WindowsXP SP2 compatibility

We would like to announce the compatibility of our products after installing the "Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (hereafter referred to as Windows XP SP2)" released on September 2, 2004.
Some of the functions in the bundled software may not be supported after installing the Windows XP SP2. In this case, the network configuration needs to be changed as mentioned below. Other functions are supported as they were before Windows XP SP2 was installed.

PRICOM cannot be connected via USB Utility , SX Virtual Link

How to fix

The port (UDP #19540) that USB Utility uses needs to be opened.

(1)	Select "start" - "Control Panel."
(2)	Click "Windows Firewall," and select "Exceptions" tab.
(3)	Select "Add Port," and enter SXUPTP for "Name," and 19540 or "Port number." Select UDP .

PRICOM cannot be found when it is beyond the router. (1)

How to fix:

Add programs manually from "Exceptions" tab in "Windows Firewall."

(1)	Select "start" - "Control Panel."
(2)	Click "Windows Firewall," and select "Exceptions" tab.
(3)	Add target programs from "Add Program." Note: Only installed applications are listed. When executing directly from CD-ROM, the application is not listed. Click "Browse" and select the application execution file. (For the program that is not listed, click "Browse," and select the execution file.)

How to fix:

Since the above programs are not execution file, they cannot be added to the list of exceptions of the firewall.
If the IP address for printing is available, it can be entered directly. (Configuration is not necessary.)

Disable the firewall function temporarily in order to search a device beyond the router.

(1)	Select "start" - "Control Panel."
(2)	Click "Windows Firewall," and select "Off (not recommended).".
(3)	Change the firewall configuration to "On (recommended)"after configuring the utilities including JC-Print2002.

PRICOM with 0.0.0.0 IP address cannot be searched.

How to fix:
	Add programs manually from "Exceptions" tab in "Windows Firewall." For the procedure, refer to "PRICOM cannot be found when it is beyond the router (1)."

The "Windows Security Alert" appears regarding SetupAssistant.

The "Windows Security Alert" appears when upgrading the SetupAssistant via FTP.

How to fix:
	Click "Unblock." The program is added to the list of exceptions of the firewall. Therefore, the alert dialog box will not appear from then on.

The "Windows Security Alert" appears regarding Novell Client32.

The "Windows Security Alert" appears when rebooting a PC after installing Novell Client32.

	Novell Client32
How to fix:
	Click "Unblock." The program is added to the list of exceptions of the firewall. Therefore, the alert dialog box will not appear from then on. If "Unblock" is not selected, the events, including paper jam, cannot be displayed when printing via NDPS Gateway.

Appendix

Current Windows XP SP2 is still unstable. Therefore, the procedures mentioned above could be changed. When new facts regarding Windows XP SP2 are discovered, the contents on this page are subject to change.
