Serial Cables
silex now carries Null Modem cables for end to end connection
to any device. Most serial devices and printers with serial ports
require a standard null modem cable to connect with Serial Server
Products. Find out what type of serial connector is on your product,
printer, or other device and order the corresponding cable:

Parallel Cables
There are three different types of Parallel Port Connectors:
“A” Connectors on the left, “B” Connectors
in the middle, and “C” Connectors on the right.

- The 25-pin female “A” connector on the left is
typically what is found on a PC. It is also the connection that
is found on many of our desktop print servers, such as the TROY200,
or many of the ExtendNet models that have parallel ports.
- The 36-pin Centronics “B” female connector labeled
“RECEPTACLE” is what is found on pretty much all
printers with the exception of newer HP Printers, such as the
HP LaserJet 2000, 4000, and 8000 series. The PocketPro and Pony
Print Server models have a “B” male connector, and
connect directly to the parallel port of printers with this
type of connector, so no parallel port cable is necessary.
- The “C” Connectors are also 36-pin connectors,
but it is a much smaller form factor. Some refer to this as
mini-Centronics. Newer HP models, such as the HP LaserJet 2000,
4000, and 8000 series have a female “C” connector.
Examples:
- PocketPro 100S (male B connector) to HP LaserJet 8000 (female
C connector) would require a B-Female to C-Male cable.
- TROY200 (female A connector) to a Lexmark Optra S (female
B connector) would require an A-Male to B-Male cable.
